Clay Steell

Clay has spent the last 5 years researching how to restore forests of Bull Kelp (Nereocystis luetkeana) and Giant Kelp (Macrocystis pyrifera) across what’s thought of today as southern British Columbia, Canada, and the Indigenous territories therein.

In 2025 he started Blue Futures Kelp to continue working on kelp forest restoration, conservation, and research. Since 2022, he has also been an avid amateur astronomer, sharing his love of the night sky and the cosmos with others through community telescope nights.
